Ideas, held by objects.Hello, I'm Simon, a Poet, Writer, Designer and Engineer, and Observer. Here are some of my endeavours...If you'd like a bespoke handcrafted poem, I can write and organise this for you.On this website are examples of my poems and crafting.
I sit and dream amongst oak and Japanese treesStepping over varnished roots
Polished by the ages gone, underfoot and in
unnoticed reamsOf leaves on the trail, on hillside slopes, held close by the treesIn every colour over the centuriesNatural-splendour
In a patinated breezeAs the fall of poetic chaos
Becomes a magnetism of ground and leavesFinding this golden renewal,
As true as I’ve ever seenFor they say time is a flexible thing
A versatility of melody
Woodland, leading to our fullest stars and open skies
There, heavens light to please
The Bay.Sitting in a café, tea wisps from the cups, mint, coffee, teasRadio in the hum, a place to enjoy and pass the dayThe day curtails and sloshes, in the bay, the sanctuaryA place where sunlight streams, and rain pattersPatters, in this oasisRested, full of beans, and ready to start the day, sitting in a café
Direction is a glow.Direction is a glow in the heart, in minds, in hands.
Of preserving the voice that frees us, to far hopes
And closely cherished dreamed of landsTo many, a view, to many, the journey itself
To tread lightly, to see brightlyKnowing that layers of paint form
And artists are amongst usBy type and ballpoint ink
Journalling to make a dinkIn direction that will show, when
Taking the hand of intuitionClimbing a staircase
Tracing a central streetLooking to the fullest view
Going the path
Yet unknown
In addition to my writing and dashboard fine pattern works, I care deeply about human development, effective giving through money and our time and energy. I believe in the importance of community, and varied project contributing to building bettering outcomes. Here you can find detail of my creative endeavours and works; further interests.
Sea Sun.At the interweaving of silver
Following the horizon’s formIn a sight of mystique from the serenity in the solder
Around vessels raised
Held in handsAt partings in lustres of seas
Sea and sun overlap
Silver lightWithout breeze or folds of sail
Afloat, by the shore
Here's another one of my poems, set in the Sussex Downs.
Sussex.Misty light falls outside my home. With a full heart, setting off into the cobblestone.Once cast to its lamplit evening. A kind of music from keys and strings,
That builds in the walls. To light, and to dark, to threads of history at the musicians hands.
The call of cello and violin,
The stomp of a shifting ground.Within these hills and canals
A refusal to be held by circumstances
To steam, to solar, to the coast’s wind turbines
Our global reflection, walks by our sides
The need for habitual enhancesTo old friends, with all in good timeTo life, and love, now progress
With courage in mind

Writing
Writing can be a creation of soft thought and idea clouds, forming above mountain snow. A process, an osmosis
My pen carves arcs, words take flight.
Ink and pigment flow, written delight. On a breeze, these words are carried.
The ones admirably admitted.
Cold blue between clouds.
Higher now, drifted.Snow puff sounds, on charcoal rock forms.
A whole collection of sights, adorning the dawn.
The murmurations of birds, swift, nature’s own.
The slowness of clouds, this day have formed.
Poetry
Creativity to me is the epicentre of transformative action.
I hope I can inspire a similar stir or infinity.
It is my belief that creativity, interdisciplinary and wide ranging in translative connections, fostering new ideas, and remembering old ones, is a key to expression, and a method for original, pivotal thought.
I thought that my dreams would be city pathwaysJust to the spotlight of the centre stageEvery image, the transition of the sunriseThe beginning of the dayOpening up the windowLooking upon a bubbling bustleOpening up the windowWhere can we live but days?Along the riversTo tower blocks highTowards reaching out to glorious skyA world for everybodyA humanity at oneSleeping in through the memories
On ethereal tides
Mathematics
Mathematics to me is an embodiment of careful thinking, bringing an optimisation of clarity. There can be no doubt about the significance of mathematics, mathematics brings understanding and defines fundamental combinations and operations of objects.I believe it brings people together and helps solve key scientific, economic and societal challenges. There can be an abstraction, intrinsic to life, within its study. And also an enjoyment of pertinent, incisive questioning.I’d like to learn from the life of Maryam Mirzakhani, doing mathematics by immersion, and then assessing the challenges. I want to learn how to ask questions of rigorous ideas, delving into the scientific method.I think there is value in clarity by making use of language, a significant importance to name objects. Further, I believe in the usefulness of chance encounters, to surface ideas. I look forward to meeting those who seize their chances when it comes to collaboration.Emmy Noether clarifies and reassigns that mathematics can solve problems by examining at the fundamental level. This makes a career with mathematics seem so fulfilling, to thrive in the rolling challenges that will occur, in the puzzle and the work involved in such an experience.
engine-turned artistry
Work for me combines my love of mathematics and design, with visualisation. Working methodically, experimenting, and seeing/discovering what's possible.Today, amongst other technical and varied projects, I work as an Engine Turner. I am pleased to share that this work will continue with the dashboards for the Bentley Motors Blower Jnr; the first all-electric Bentley, inspired by the vintage Bentley Team Car UU 5872.Working with my father, David, the dashboards will contain a curved sequenced pattern, sharing a language of the original, historic instrument fascia. To be part of the design and manufacture of a more sustainable Bentley has been a long-held aspiration.https://www.VintageEngineTurning.comhttps://www.heritagecrafts.org.uk/maker/simon-pearce
Interests
I am deeply passionate about supporting highly effective charitable organisations that make a tangible impact. My interests lie in promoting global equity, reducing income disparities, and working towards a more just society. I am interested in understanding the long-term trajectory of humanity and particularly exploring potential risks; while actively finding opportunities that could shape the future and present day.Giving MultiplierEquality TrustGiveWellFuture of Humanity Institute
